This display of pumpkins looks good. It's looking better. Now it looks it's best. You can use items you already have
to give height to your display.

(Old silverware boxes work great too)Cake or candle pedestals work really well.Books and plant stands are great
for achieving height.Next time you see an old cutting board
at the thrift store, buy it.Freshened up with paint,
it gives height and looks great too.A little lift will make your vignettes go
from flat to fabulous!

You always have great ideas-Keep them coming!
I like to use books, but I love all your ideas. I have a bunch of old/antiquey books that I use just for this purpose; unfortunately, since our move a few months ago, the box of books is MIA.

thank you for sharing those tips! I often don't think of ways to use what I already own. :-)
Joy, the thing I love most about your blog is that you are such a great teacher. You show us how to take our decor and just make it really stand out. I really needed this lesson today and am anxious to go give my decor a boost! -Mandi

My grandma was an antique dealer for years and her shops were always so pretty. I remember her creating heights with all kinds of things. I wish she would blog her house. It is amazing. I knew height added a lot but you have given me great ideas of things to look for and use. Your a genius.
You've given me some GREAT ideas. I have a little fall display on my armoire and I was thinking how much nicer it would be if some of the things were staggered in heights. I've got some serious thinking to do. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for the ideas! I love posts about using things that we already have around the home! I love being able to look at something in a whole new way too!
I just love the pumpkin/tea cup vignette. What a fabulous idea! Thank you for sharing your creativity!

Love it all! Great ideas!
I love the idea of a cutting board, I have one of those, I would love to see pictures of where you use yours. Are you going to paint it, or leave it natural?
You're so right! Everything looks more elegant when elevated or put under a cloche! The cutting board is a great idea. I always use books because I can't think of anything else to use.
Thanks for the tip...
Great tip! Now I am just trying to find the balance between raising things up and keeping somethings lower. I am getting there though. :)
Hi Joy,
It's funny how something so simple can make such a difference! Great before and after pic of the 3 pumpkins!
It's neat to see that you enjoy what you do so much. Beautiful work, Thanks for the ideas.
Everything is Beautiful!!!
Thanks for the inspiration!
I have been keeping my eye out for some thick candlesticks. Thanks for the tips!
Usually when I look at something I have done and it doesn't seem quite right it is the varying height thing. Good demo. Jackie
What a great display tutorial--such useful ideas. Thanks!
Love the witch on the broom! Great piece! ~Mindy
I like the idea of using things you already have around the house...and my husband will like that too, since he is getting tired of me seeing all these cute projects on blogs and running out to Hobby Lobby "just for a few little things"!
Carrie
