Last night we sat in a theater happily laughing as we watched Son #3, along with Son #2, perform in their improv. group. #3 was able to perform with only the aid of a cane. It too was a very emotional evening.
We were witnesses of a miracle.
As you know, I rarely share details of my personal and family life here. But tonight I feel inclined. You may have noticed that I am a member ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In November, Son #3 was called to serve a church mission in New Zealand, teaching the gospel in Mandarin Chinese. His leave date is December 16th. Yes, this young man broke both of his legs a mere two and a half weeks before he is due to leave to serve the Lord full-time.
I know with assurance that he was healed because of faith, priesthood blessings, and many, many prayers. And because the Lord needs this wonderful, faithful, strong, big-hearted son to serve the people of New Zealand for the next two years.
Several of you wrote to tell me that you would add your prayers to ours. THANK YOU! I appreciate your love, concern, thoughts and prayers in our behalf. It is so heartwarming to know that even though you really don't "know" my family, you still prayed for us. We are indebted to you and are very grateful for your faith.

Wow, I didn't know that your son had broken his legs. What a testimony that is of the Power of the Priesthood. Surely the Lords needs him to teach the Gospel in New Zealand! Have miracles ceased to be, nay if miracles have ceased than God has ceased to be. Mormon 9:18-19. I love this gospel.
PS: Yes I did know that he had broken legs, I forgot from the previous post. Sorry, it's my senior moments coming through.

Wow, that's wonderful. So glad it sounds like it won't move back his mission.
We had a missionary here (just before our son left) that broke his ankle the night before entering the MTC. He spent his first 6 weeks healing at home, then 3 weeks at the MTC...the last weeks of his mission here, he kept wishing for those "lost" 6 weeks.
Our God is so BIG, so STRONG and so MIGHTY... there is NOTHING our God cannot do! Sending up a prayer of praise for you and your family today. Also praying for son #3 and his upcoming mission work.

My SIL is from New Zealand. Her family still live there. So if he needs anything once he gets there, ted and Donna Stone are amazing! I am not sure where he is going, but she haa a LOT of family. Plus My brother and her are going over next year. Let me know!!

The power of prayer is truly amazing. Thank you for reminding us of that again. I'm so very glad to hear that your son has had such an amazing recovery.
We dropped my son #1 off to the MTC on Wednesday. He will be there till the 29th! What a small, small world!
I'm so glad your son is now on the mend and doing so much better. I know his Mama time did him a world of good. I'll continue to pray for a full recovery for him.♥
so he is going into the mtc on the 16th?
my son jack is awaiting his call right now. it was processed on friday so we are hoping it comes this week-

I hadn't realized that you were LDS. I am too. Ironically my son entered the MTC last Wed. and is going to serve in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission. We don't know for sure when he leaves yet. I've blogged about this extensively on my private blog and have only made a short mention on my public blog. I too believe in miracles and this certainly was one. May God bless him on his mission.

What a blessing! I think missionaries and prospective missionaries are one of the most targeted group by Satan. My younger sister is also going on a mission, she leaves in March to California, and I've been telling her to be so careful because Satan will try anything and everythign to stop you from going.

On a much more frivilous note...I just wanted to let you know that I loved the wreaths you put on your kitchen cabinets last year at Christmas time. I gathered the matrials last year and this year hung the wreaths. They look wonderful. I showed photos of it on my blog this week-end and linked back to your blog giving you credit for the idea. Thank-you for the inspiration!! I look forward to seeing how you have decorated your house this year!
Wow Joy - From the sound of things, I'm thinking that there are some really special people being prepared to hear the Gospel in New Zealand, and your son has been chosen to deliver the message. Heavenly Father does great and marvelous things. What a wonderful miracle! He will LOVE being in the MTC during Christmas - the Spirit is SO strong there!

I mentioned on your last post about my daughter who broke her leg and spent 3 days and 3 subsequent surgeries at Primary Children's. We also saw the miracle of priesthood blessings help her in her recovery. What a blessing that your son will still be able to serve a mission. Many good things can come our of our trials. Our daughter (12 at the time) has said what a wonderful 6 months that was. She learned so much and grew so much. The Lord truly knows what we need. May your family have a Merry Christmas.
It is amazing and ,yes, miraculous how well your son is doing. As a former Operating Room nurse, we always were anxious to hear we were getting a motorcycle accident patient as they have so little protection. Like many others here in Blogland, I checked back daily and added my prayers. God has already shown you his goodness and blessings..

I'm so glad to hear the good news. I too am LDS and have a testimony of the Power of the Priesthood. I hope you have a Merry Christmas even though I know you'll be missing your son while he's on his mission.
thank you for sharing your miracle. I know that the gospel is true and that the priesthood is powerful. Our grandson just reported his mission yesterday. There is nothing better than having a missionary in the field. Our daughter also spoke Chinese on her mission. He will LOVE the people. Again, Thank you!!!

I read your blog daily and enjoy your beautiful decorating. You are a inspiration to me. Glad you are posting again. So happy to hear your son is getting better and stronger. My oldest son served a mission in New Zealand and also spoke Chinese. He loved it. Good luck to your son. It is also the best two years of a parents life.
