These are my keys. 
Every time hubby borrows them he tells me that I'll need a new key chain soon. He says this e v e r y time. Which got me to thinking, they're my keys, they should have something unique hanging from them.
My solution came when I spyed this beautiful little olive fork at the thrift store for 10 cents.

Isn't the detail on the handle exquisite?And it's real sterling silver.
Since sterling silver is rather soft I just snipped off the tongs with wire cutters. Then I used my brute force to bend the end (then hubby used his brute force to finish the job).
Now I have a key fob that is
sterling silver and uniquely exquisite!

Fabulous!!! I just saw some keychains made with vintage silverware just like yours while I was out antiquing this past weekend. I don't remember who much they were, but I know they were not 10 cents. Way to go. I want to make me one now. I just need to find a piece of silverware that has a fabulous pattern on the handle.

I've made them with larger pieces of silverware... but this little olive fork is sooo dainty! Absolutely gorgeous!

I had painted the subflooring in the kitchen of our last house. Hmmmm...wonder if we still have any pictures of it. Actually painted it two different colors, the first in a checkerboard pattern. It was great- after a year I would give it a fresh coat of paint-no tougher than mopping! I got a ton of compliments on the floor too!

Thank you so much for posting this! I have a few pieces of flatware that I've been trying to find something to do with. They're neither sterling nor exquisite, just inexpensive light-weight stainless purchased decades ago from one of those magazine mailers, but they're monogrammed and have a pretty design, so it seemed a shame to get rid of them. I've been lurking here for at least a year, but I don't think I've commented (much?) before. I love your blog and get so many great ideas here! Thanks!

How awesome is your olive fork keychain? I absolutely love it. If you'd attached the end of it instead of the top, it could work simultaneously as a keychain and self-defense precaution.

This is such a great idea! How creative you are... I doubt many people would look at a lonely little olive fork (and how many people would know THAT is what it was anyway!) and turn it into such a work of art. It's lovely!
