I think that one of my favorite flowers has to be
the hydrangea.
Unfortunately I have a brown thumb
when it comes to growing them.
I've tried three times.
Three times I have failed.
I am working up the courage to try again this summer.
But I haven't let my failure of growing the real thing
stop me from surrounding myself
with the much easier variety to care for. . .
the faux hydrangea---easy to care for, widely available.
I've even bought them from the dollar store. 
Dollar store hydrangea's displayed en mass on my front door.
What flower draws your attention, be it real or faux?

I love the front door arrangement! I can't grow much because the deer eat everything.
I would like to try growing hydrangea, have never tried. It is on my list to add to the yard.

I LOVE hydrangeas! I have three bushes that have done pretty well. They're planted on the east side of my house, so they get mostly morning sun. I don't know if that makes any difference; I'm just thankful when they bloom!
You found faux hydrangeas at the dollar store? I need to go shopping!
That was the main flower at our son's wedding last summer. They had two potted ones for at the garden arch so they planted them at our place until they get a home of their own. I noticed yesterday that they are greening up so we shall see!
My sister used to work for a nursery, and found out hydrangea's don't do well here in UT. We've tried anyway, with not much luck either. Good luck if you try again!
I love hydrangeas also. I have also tried on many occasions to get them to grow and have failed every time. Just about every neighbor of mine has them growing, so it is definitely my influence that kills them. I am also trying to get up the nerve to try again. It drives me crazy, because I can honestly grow just about anything else. If you get back on the horse, it might give me the courage to do it too, but I'm not doing this alone! Love the basket on the front door. Gor-ge-ous!
Hydrangea is one that I will be looking forward to when I go plant shopping on Thursday and Saturday. I know it will be a while before I'll have any beautiful blooms, so I'm with you on the faux hydrangea. Your samples are lovely! Thanks!
I love them too but can't seem to grow them. I LOVE peonies and they and i get along so well it's one plant i don't kill.

I don't think they grow well in Utah!! When on vacation in Oregon I thought they (the Oregon people) had WAY more then their share!!
My fave are pansies. They are my complete opposite- colourful, fragile, precious, shy, impressive in a small way. (I am boisterous, loud, dark, aggressive... you get the picture) I actually bought 42 little pansies 2 week ago and surrounded my three bed semi with them, and heck, they always improve my mood!
I'd be hard- pressed for seconds, as there are so many. Tulips (they scared me as a kid, how weird is that?), lavender, violets, daisies, bluebells... I could go on for ages.

Beeeeauutiful! I had no idea that Dollar stores also have such pretty flowers. I like hydrangeas too. I have one that is growing and doing great. I have it on the eastside of my home. I think it's doing so good cause it only gets the morning sun. In the evening it would be way too hot if I had planted it in front of our home. Whew!

I love those on your front door. Super cute. I love hydrangeas too. My bridesmaids carried round bouquets of white hydrangeas in my wedding and I almost loved them more than my bouquet of yellow roses!!
I also love hydrangeas! I have a bush in our backyard that has produced exactly one bloom. But, hope springs eternal, haha!

I love hydrangeas too but I also like peonies, tulips, calla lillies too.
