ANOTHER TUTORIAL!
Today we're going to create some beautiful organizational tools.
First, gather your supplies. You'll need:
*a large picture frame
*your choice of spray paint
*a heavy duty stapler (doesn't everyone have one of these?)
*a roll of hardware mesh or poultry wire---both can be found in the fencing section of home improvement stores
When it's dry, unroll the wire "fabric"
and measure and cut it
to fit inside the frame.
The poultry wire can be cut with wire cutters, but
the hardware mesh is more easily cut using tin snips.

Pull and staple the wire to the back side of the frame.
You may need an extra set of
helping hands for this step. You can get fancy and add some ribbon
to the front of the frame if you'd like.
I also added some S hooks that I squeezed
one end shut onto the wire.
Are you wondering what we just made?
Well, if you used hardware wire and added S hooks,
you just made
a great frame to hang your jewelry on.If you used poultry wire, just add some binder clips
and you have a pretty memo board. You can even customize these.
The addition of a knob makes a plain frame
look like a cabinet door.
Instead of binder clips, you can use clothes pins.
You can even paint and cover your clothes pins
with scrapbook paper. That's the beauty of this project, it's very versatile!
If you want to hang your frame, add sawtooth hangers.
Or just lean your frame against the wall.
Congratulations!

ReplyDeleteSo, so clever Joy! Unfortunately, I'm still behind on my spray painting due to torrential rain, so I'll hopefully get that done this weekend instead. Still, love the idea!

ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I had in mind for a black frame I have. I just have not been able to find the chicken wire. The home improvement store did not have any the other day I went. I may have to find a feed store some where.
ReplyDeleteI especially love the tall thinner one.
Great project and looks super easy.
Great ideas!! Now if I could only find somewhere in my house to hang them...I am seriously out of space! Have a great Labor Day weekend!
ReplyDeleteCarrie
aren't you creative! I would have never thought to do this. I think that I will have to do this when the yard sale is over-I think that I will make 3 (if they are not too hard and don't cause that much swearing) they would be perfect to hold all the girls crap that they bring home from school that they just can't part with!
ReplyDeleteI have my project done-promise this time. no searching required!
LOVE THIS!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished making one of these with chicken wire for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI love those tutorials!! Keep up the great work, Joy! I check on you daily. PAM
ReplyDeleteVERY CUTE idea...does it give me an excuse to buy more jewelry????
ReplyDeleteI am especially partial to the chicken wire. I want to cover my walls with it, make cages for my boys out of it and make mistreatments with it...

Cute ideas! When we finally get around to redoing our closet, I need to do something like this to hang on the wall of the closet to organize some of my jewelry.

This is a great idea! I saw something like this on a bit larger of a scale in a online picture of someone's boutique -- maybe Tracy Porter's.
ReplyDeleteGreat item to sell, too!
I love this. This is going on my to do list. I like the one with clips for spare papers on it. I recently bought my first staple gun (at an estate sale!) and I can't wait to use it.
ReplyDeleteHi, Joy, I recently discovered your blog and I love it! I wanted to contact you by email but didn't see any address...I was looking for some advice on painting a dining room set that I found on the side of the road. I know how to re-cane chairs and paint but not so good at distressing and other techniques. I'd love to have some input from you! Here's the link: http://theineptaspirant.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-next-project.html

ReplyDeleteI just told my daughter about this. She garage saled, I mean purchased at a neightborhood boutique a tall bookcase which she painted black, turned on it's side and uses to store her collection of high heels. This may be her next project to hang above it for her collection of preowned jewelry from the 1930's through the 1960's.
ReplyDeleteLove it
