Dining Delights

I apologize for being so sporadic with my posts these last few weeks. While most people were Christmas decorating and shopping, I decided to make-over my daughter's room. Yes, I know I'm crazy, but look at it this way, I'll have posts to share during the long, cold days of January.I finally finished tweaking the decorations in the dining room. I hung little wreaths on the china cabinet, this time I used beads instead of ribbon. Actually the wreaths are hanging on those little stick-on hangers and the bead string is just taped to the backside of the door. In the kitchen, the wreaths are actually hanging by the ribbon that's tacked on the back of the cabinet.I placed some mirrors on the long shelf/mantle (I've been gathering mirrors to hang a wall of mirrors in the stairwell). I pulled together a bunch of apothecary jars and vases and placed them on the shelf. I poured "snow" into the jars, which is actually Epsom salt from the dollar store. I added strings of white lights along the shelf and trailing in and out of the jars and vases. Then I piled in vintage ornaments and strings of silver beads.
I love the finished look.
It's even more beautiful at night.

  2. I would have never thought to use mirrors. What a beautiful display. I love the idea of salt for snow. Plus nice cheap ornaments.
If you ever want more apothecary jars for cheap-go to Ross. I got a bunch just the other day-the most expensive one was $12. They are beautiful too. All different sizes. They are so cheap-I am thinking I might have to go and get a couple more and fill with some fun ideas for the friend who has everything.
Thanks for sharing. I love the wreaths as well. I just love wreaths all the time.
They are like earing for your home. You just need a little something more!!

  19. Wow! I want all of your jars and ornaments! And I always wanted to do a wall of mirrors too. And then I thought I wanted to do it a stairwell but both of mine are sealed on both sides. I might do it anyway some day, just to add some light in a dark stairwell. :) Can't wait to see the redone room.

  20. Just beautiful. I try to spend a few hours during the Christmas season with just the Christmas lights and candles lit. I sit and think what Christmas is all about. A little bit of calm in the hubbub. Mimi

  23. It all looks magical!

I thought of you last night! I was driving a rescue transport (I do volunteer work for animal rescues) from DFW to Ardmore, OK. Well, wouldn't you know, along the way in Marietta, OK is a Dollar Tree distribution center! If I wasn't driving along the highway, I'd have taken a pic for you of your Mecca. ;) LOL
