The Whole Truth

I appreciate each and every one of you who take the time to read my blog!!!
I especially
want to thank those who leave me a comment. You are all so very kind! Your notes are often the only thing that keeps me blogging. I must tell you though, that when I read comments that say you wish you had my energy, or you would like to get as much done as I do, I have to chuckle. The truth is, I have a hard time accomplishing everything on my To-Do list too. For instance, if you walked into my house right now, you would be very, very disappointed. Instead of seeing a home beautifully decorated for Christmas, you would see this:Boxes and bags full of fall decorations waiting to be taken downstairs and properly put away. And there are boxes and boxes full of Christmas decorations waiting to be brought upstairs. In my backyard you would see my son's desk needing the finishing coats of spray paint.
SO THERE YOU HAVE
THE WHOLE TRUTH.

I am NOT a super woman. I do not have boundless amounts of energy. I have NOTHING exciting to post today because I'm busy playing catch-up.
OH, how I *WISH* that sleep was optional!!! I could use that six to seven hours to decorate and clean my home, as well as spend time reading and leaving witty and kind comments on all of your wonderful blogs!

  1. I sitll think you're super woman! We all have piles of stuff hanging around, but that is just living. You know? My house wouldn't be mine if I didn't have a pile of toys hidden in the corner or that never ending "to-do" list. :o) Thanks for the "whole truth." Have a wonderful day catching up!

  2. As a faithful blog reader it's easy to get caught up in thinking that you talented women are living perfectly scheduled, decorated, and orderly lives. Comparing myself to your collective standards makes me feel overwhelmed and underwhelming. So thanks for posting the "whole" because that pile of unstowed fall decorations are currently residing in my LR too and your reality helps me realize that I don't have to feel "less than" because of it.

  3. Faithful reader here too! I love this blog- I am always recommending it to people... you're great- piles or not. Seriously, even your piles are cute!! keep it up- I promise to comment more often :)

  4. This quote's for you then:
I am the swan swimming serenely on top of the water....but paddling like HECK underneath!
It's my life also, I'm juggling life with 5 BOYS and I LOVE projects. I'm grateful that you have taught me the proper way to spray paint. I've had projects in the past that did not seem to work out too well and had given up on spray paint. You've inspired me to try it again with your helpful directions and I'm looking forward to a project turning out as beautiful as yours seem to be. Keep it all coming because you inspire me daily.

  7. every single christmas, i take all the now not-used stuff from around my house, in addition to all the aumtumn things i've taken down and i pile them in a neat-heap in my basement. then i happily decorate like mad for christmas, and ignore the huge mess in the corner of my basement utility room. then after christmas, i am motivated to get it all put away nice again and start a new year off fresh! no shame in those piles for you! doesn't EVERYONE do it that way?!?!

  8. I've never commented, but should. First, I LOVE your door table. So creative! I do love that you are human as well:). I love your blog! It makes me think maybe I could refinish the ugly table in our LR!

  9. Okay Okay, so you're not superwoman. But you have inspired a lot of women to do things they would have never tried. Like me for instance! Also, I nominated you for a blog award. I posted about it today. Thanks for the awesome blog!

  10. Regardless of whether or not you can get it ALL done in a single day, you choose to share your gifts with the rest of the world! You could very easily be *too busy*! I, for one, am grateful you have made that choice! Thank you for giving of yourself to us all!

    Blessings,
    Buffy

  11. Joy, Joy, Joy...you make me smile, my sister.

Transitions...why did we choose to have Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas so darn close together?

Somebody should have made more use of the month January, I say!!

Hope you are well. I went to my local goodwill today and thought of you.

Prices just aren't as good here as they are there.

They had mucked up frames with "art" in them going for 12 duckets...ummm, how 'bout no.

Did find some savvy dud finds though. Thinking about posting about them!

Merry Gobble...errruuh, I mean Happy Christmas!!!

  13. I actually prefer my friends to be a little flawed. Makes me feel better! :D I have two of four trees up and one of them looks like I shot the ornaments at it. I have four totes full of christmas stuff to put up/out and I desperately need to clean the living room. I lso have the box of fall stuff still sitting around waiting for me to feel like climbing into the attic.

  16. I know what you mean...there isn't enough time in a day...and then sometimes there is too much☺

  17. Hello there! I have been following your blog for a short while now and I have to say, I get such great decorating ideas from you and so many other bloggers!

I hate when I have stuff lying around the house when I'm in between holidays or a project. It makes me crazy! I think we are always too hard on ourselves for silly little things like that though!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Amen. Now, don't worry about the blog...take care of you, Super Woman!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Whew! That makes me feel better. ;^)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Now we know you are human :) Glad to see someone else thinks sleep should be optional - it's such a waste of valuable time!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh... so you are REAL?
    LOL
Just kidding keep up the great work!

  22. The fact that you give us the "whole truth" is what makes you so likable! I relate to real women, with real struggles, and real lives. It's nice to know that we all have something in common. That is what bonds us together. The world of blogging is so fun and full of phenomenal women such as YOU, Joy! Thanks for sharing a little piece of your "real" life with us!

    Have a great day!

  24. I'm glad to know that you're not super-human! At any given time, I have 2 or 3 projects in the works and there are always a few bags of "supplies" lying around! Ha! Don't feel bad, I think it's just part of being creative!

  25. Joy that is exactly how my house looks. Piles and Piles of stuff. I'm trying to be good and purge some things just to be able to relax.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't always comment, but I do read and love every post and everything you do. I'm glad to see you have some of the same piles going on that I do.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have a theory that all us bloggers are secret "stagers" and that we have a room or pile or whole home where reality exists, and doesn't look so hot for a photo to post :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree with Kacey! You still are super woman in my eyes!
My house looked like that yesterday-but coffee always helps...Now I am ready for Christmas!!!

  29. Hi Joy,
It's good to know that you are real and not super woman!

Sometimes I can't think of anything to blog about...or don't have anything that looks 'blog worthy' either.

Just to let you know, you've inspired me to do lots of things...especially visit thrift stores! And, I'm enjoying it...that is what is important!

  30. Sorry. I don't care what you say. You have more energy than I could dream of. That pile's not that big. You can't fool us into thinking you're behind. Nope. :)

  31. It just make me like you even more!

  32. None of us are perfect...and I too wish I had more hours in the day...but there is always tomorrow! Leaves something to look forward too. 33. We all have piles of stuff during this transition from Fall to Christmas. I've never figured out how to do it any other way. It's just not a one day project!! Take care, Sally

  34. I found your blog recently. My 12 year old daughter and I love it. She gets a kick out of all the black spray paint you use. You inspired me today. I took out my only can of black spray paint, which is actually blackboard paint and painted an old tractor seat I had hanging around. Tomorrow I plan on writing "Joy" on it and decorating it to hang on the door for Christmas. All because of you and your wonderful ideas! Thank you.

  35. Hi Joy,

I just LOVE you no matter what you accomplish or get around to doing. You always have such wonderful ideas and you decorate so beautifully that it is always just a pleasure to see what you have done.

  36. Now, leave those in the hall for at least a week, and we will then feel better about it. :) We LOVE you!

  46. Well, I'll tell you one thing, your mess looks nicer than my mess! I've been still working on getting the stuff done after the sale my daughter and I had last weekend, and my house is sadly feeling it. I'm getting inspired by reading what everyone else is accomplishing, maybe it will make me get busy! Karen

  50. Thanks for posting this. I think we have a tendency to see what others do and forget that we are all just people and that what we see on creative blogs like yours is the best of the stuff going on. I still think you're amazingly talented even if you have a few bags waiting to be put away. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  51. HI Joy! Thanks for being so honest and reassuring us we are normal!!! That's the beauty of bloggin; you only have to show the good stuff and ignore the rest! I agonize someone might come to the door and see the same piles you have!!!lol Have a great week - Sincerely, Jeannette

  54. Hi there - great post! I would hope that my friends would walk in to my house right now and see beyond the Christmas clutter, and still some TG stuff out, too!

I'm just happy to see my friends, and I hope they feel the same.

    Great post :))))

  55. I love that you too are on a painting things black kick. I have been painting anything that does not move black for the last 4 years. I think I might paint one of the dining tables a crisp white for next spring just to mix it up a bit.

  56. Oh how I can relate!!! There's alot of pressure on us women bloggers to stay creative in our posts and in decorating our homes and everything else we women have on our plates! I've been feeling the pressure! Happy I'm not the only one! Take Care!
