Last summer we built this table from an old door and stair balusters.
It was designed to fill an awkward space between a window well and a set of stairs on our patio. It's tall so that it can function as a sofa table behind my wicker love seat. I originally painted the top red, (remember my ketchup and mustard theme?).
In my effort to transform my patio into a more restful spot, I thought it was time to give the table a little paint makeover with a beautiful leafy green, reminiscent of a luscious head of lettuce. 
Then of course I distressed it with sandpaper and a paint scraper to unearth it's past. This little door has not only been red in it's former life, but has also dawned the colors white and baby blue.

I have a few things that I am ready to make new, and would love to see your in-the-process work. For instance, do you roll out a tarp in the middle of the lawn and sand and paint there? Where do your masterpieces come together? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove the new table color! I am very interested in the distressing step of your projects. I've been trying to distress things lately, and not sure if I'm doing it right, if indeed there is a right way to do it! Do you just sand or scrape randomly? I'm curious how people do this!

ReplyDeleteI don't worry too much about outside furniture here in West Texas..it's always way too hot to be out on the patio in summer. A very times, even during the spring..we have dust and wind all spring.

Your house seems kind of like mine- nothing stays the same for very long, always changing up the colors. My husband keeps saying as long as HE stays, he doesn't care what else I change. I love your ever evolving ideas and beautiful colors.
