In fact, after I painted the lamp black that's how I felt---bored! I almost regretted spray painting it. (GASP!!!)
Well, I came up with a solution. I took out my antique brass metallic spray paint. Noooo, I didn't spray it back to it's original finish.
I lightly sprayed it, keeping the can about two to three feet away from the lamp. That way only the flecks of metallic landed on the lamp. The color didn't change, it's still black but has a more professional finish.
Now when the sun hits it, or the light is on, it shimmers. It has a warmth and sheen that it didn't have before. Black with metallic flecks---a great combination!

Very pretty! I saw your spider and smiled. I bought one too and love it. I have yet to put a candle in it but I will ..... The kids went back to school today. They were off Friday because of Ike. It really didnt get too bad here thank the good Lord~

I have a chandelier that is pretty in shape/style, but is ugly brass. I've been trying to find the time to paint it.

Glorious! Looks very professional! What a creative solution. I've often painted things and wondered if I should have. Like how you saved yourself here. I'm sure I'll be trying that technique soon.

Great combination! I hoppedon over to the Dollar Store this weekend and found myself overwhelmed. BUT I found lots of nifty goods for the birthday party! Woohoo! I plan to go back to get my Holiday project decor. Can't wait! Happy Monday!!

I love the lamp! I always look at Goodwill for lamp bases with a nice shape like that but never find any. The paint job looks so professional, great job!

I used that spray paint on my brass fireplace trim and it worked great. I love the lamp!

Joy, your projects are always fun to see. I've got 2 lamps that are going to need a makeover too, so I'm gathering ideas right now.
I love to add a bit of Rub N Buff over black in Spanish Copper. That adds a really nice dimension too rather just just black.

OK! So when I saw your dollar tree framed boo and eek. I hopped in the car and drove to my nearest dollar tree store! Actually two because the first one only had the frames in brown and of course we needed black! Well, I have my stuff and am ready to create! Thanks for the idea! Julie

I know how you feel...I already am discarding post ideas because they all involve showing my latest spray paint project. :) But that one is worth it, and believe me, I am not bored with any of your projects! :)
