Five Miles, Five Minutes

I have time management issues. It's frustrating for my husband. Years ago we heard a comedian talking about his wife. He said something like "She's always late because she thinks if someplace is five miles away, it will only take five minutes to get there." Both my husband and I laughed because the comedian could have just as easily been talking about me. At least now when my husband is frustrated with my poor time management he'll say, "five miles, five minutes" as a way to understand my way of thinking.
So it wouldn't surprise you that when I plan to get projects done, I usually plan on accomplishing several things in a limited amount of time. Saturday's list had six (or maybe even eight) major projects on it, plus other activities like: make sure my boys mow the lawns, go grocery shopping and go to a church dinner. And then there was the unexpected; a trip to the home improvement store and a trip to my mom's for a quick fix-it.
Sunday was spent at church and with family. We don't work on projects on Sundays. So needless to say, I don't have my project finished that I was planning to reveal today. Part of that may be due to the fact that it took around THREE hours to strip the old paint off of the balusters.
These babies are a hundred years old and the paint is peeling. I'm pretty sure that some of that paint contains lead, so for safety sake, I needed to take off all of the paint.

I did manage to paint my last project
a nice Heirloom white.
We were able to replace our old kitchen sink
with a pretty new one.
And we were able to complete another project that I'll show you in tomorrow's post.
As for the reveal of the item I teased you about of Friday, it will take another day...or so. I'll have my husband help me assemble it tonight, and then I'll begin to paint it tomorrow.
I am so sorry to disappoint you all. But, if you haven't figured it out by now...I'm not superwoman, because if I were, I could definitely go five miles in five minutes!

  3. Your kitchen sink is awesome! Hey, don't fret about not finishing your project. If you knew what doesn't get completed on my to do list for the week you would croak! LOL

  4. I grew up in a small town in the country, so you really did only take a minute to go a mile ;)! LOL!!
Actually, I think you're being way too harsh on yourself. If I had gotten my furniture piece painted AND a new sink put in AND stripped paint off a project I would be so proud of myself for being so productive! :) You did great, girlie!!
Can't wait to see the finished project in a couple of days!

    Blessings,

  6. I think your time management skills are just fine seeing that we all have a 24 hour day. I'm looking at my list of things done compared to yours and it looks as if I have a 5 mile 5 minute problem myself. I may need to re-evaluate my opinion of time management. :-) Love what you do. Take care.

  7. Take your time we will be here. I am a little burnt out on my projects myself. This weekend I did absolutely nothing. On Sunday after church we treated our kids to a day at Six Flags. The day was beautiful and they had so much fun. Maybe next weekend I'll get creative.

  14. Isn't it funny how Saturday has a long list of things to do so we can rest on Sunday? And sometimes with church meetings and obligations, Sunday is just as busy as Saturday! But I am always amazed at what you get done - you're awesome! :)

  20. I absolutely adore that sink. I have been looking for an old porcelain or enamel (whatever it is) sink with the drain boards. However, your sink may just fit my need for that old farmhouse feel. I can't seem to find what I am wanting for a reasonable price.

  21. Using the door to make a table. I love it. I have a love of old doors, and I think it is absolutely beautiful! I might have to try that with the next old door I buy!

  26. You're like the energizer bunny. I can barely get one project done in a weekend, much less as much as you do. What are you drinking that gives you so much energy???

  27. You still got a lot done. I'm terrible with time management.

  29. I'm the same way. I think; "this will just take me 20 mins", then three days later... I posted a couple of crafts on my blog that were inspired by you, and linked back to you of course. I'm on a crafting spree! Thanks for all the fab ideas.

  31. I have the same time issues, I blame it on ADD! I guess the amount of time I spend on the computer doesn't help the amount of work I get done- lol! I adore the black pumpkin on your new table, and the table too!! I stashed the idea for the door table away in my idea file.. next year I'm moving to a big house with radiators for heat- maybe a door into a bench to "cover" it up? Hmmmmm...
