I love the feeling of being home! I truly enjoy being surrounded by the people I love and the things that make me happy. I am passionate about finding joy in my home---which for me has a double meaning. My home is where I find comfort and discover who I am by using my talents and abilities.
I'm an avid thrift store shopper and collector. I love to create, re-purpose, design, re-invent and build all sorts of things.
I am passionate about helping others find the joy in their homes that I do in mine. And I believe that it doesn't take a lot of cash to do it.

I know that it's one day before Halloween, but if you're like me, you're tweaking things until it's time to take them down. So I thought I'd share one last trick using these bags of skeleton garland I bought at the dollar store a while back. I could never find a place for them and then it occurred to me that maybe it was because they needed a bit of a makeover---a silver spray paint makeover. With a few decorative ornament hangers and my army of silver skeletons in hand I proceeded to the dining room. They're just the spooktacular accessorythat my chandelier needed.I was so pleased with their gory to glam makeover that I gave a larger dollar store skeleton the same treatment. But while the paint was still wet I sprinkled on a little glitter. Tied with a bow he guards this shelf perfectly. Be sure to visit on Monday. I have a wonderful treat in store---an exciting giveaway!
Very cute! I did something similar to this last year. I used the same garland and turned each skeleton into an ornament by tying ribbon around the neck! You can check it out here...it's a dark picture but if you look closely at the tree you can see it! I just love those little skeletons! I like what you did with the chandelier! I may have to try that next year!
I saw those at the dollar store and fell in love with them. I did not buy them because I had no idea what to do with them. Now I know! Thanks for the insight. Love your blog.
Oh, I love that!!! I passes by those garlands of skeletons at my Dollar Tree so many times, but didn't know just what I'd do with them. I never did buy any, now I wish I did. Darn! I'll have to file this idea away for next year, and hope the ole DT carries them again.
Found your blog the other day and have truly been drawn in. If your analytics are off the charts, it's because I have been reading post after post after post. Love it all...gorgeous home...beautiful writing...I adore it all! SO glad I found the Joys of Home!!
My 14 year old watched a youtube video and learned to make nooses...then tied each to a noose w/ the twine that came w/ them....they are all hanging as a doorknob hanger/clanger on front door.... I love the silver idea!!
Love the skeletons! I'm always looking for ways to update the ordinary things we find at the dollar store and elsewhere...spray paint and I are good friends!
