I love the feeling of being home! I truly enjoy being surrounded by the people I love and the things that make me happy. I am passionate about finding joy in my home---which for me has a double meaning. My home is where I find comfort and discover who I am by using my talents and abilities.
I'm an avid thrift store shopper and collector. I love to create, re-purpose, design, re-invent and build all sorts of things.
I am passionate about helping others find the joy in their homes that I do in mine. And I believe that it doesn't take a lot of cash to do it.

It's funny how one "new" item can serve as inspiration for a whole makeover. My garbage gift screen got a good cleaning and sanding to reveal some of the old paint layers. Then it was placed in the center of the mantle, serving as a unique backdrop.I pulled out all of my collected birdcages and gave them a fresh coat of white spray paint to unify them.I also spruced up some old candle pillars with a yellow so bright it screams sunshine. These little birds were thrift finds years ago. Originally they hung from a ribbon. I cut apart a wire hanger and drilled a few holes in the birds and some scrap wood, to make long legged fowl.
Of course every bird needs a nest or two. This one is my favorite. It's the real deal. Several years ago I found it in my driveway after a mighty wind. There used to be horses near our home and this little nest has horsetail hair woven in for nesting comfort. What a creative bird!
Your little birdie is so cute. I love that you made his legs. Awesome idea. Love the horse hair nest too. I have one that we found right in a bush by our dog kennel that was made completely out of dog fur. It is so cool. It is white b/c we have a yellow lab.
As usual, Joy, I just love your new vignette. Decor genius! How smart of you to transform your hanging birds into standing birds.
I'm curious, though, about the real bird's nest. I've always wondered if any thing needs to be done to "treat" a real nest before bringing it into the house. There are so many abandoned nests in the trees around our home, and I'd love to use them indoors.

Your mantel is lovely! You pulled it altogether for a great look! I posted a nest...a real one that is in a hanging basket on my porch.
I love those birdies! I was wondering where you found those candle pillars.
