Bouquet Abundance

In my ideal dream world, I would have a big decorating budget. Part of that budget would be used to fill my home with fresh bouquets. I think this dream is brought on by gazing at so many home design magazines. Isn't there a fresh bouquet in practically every photo?
Then it occurred to me. I could achieve my dream! I didn't need an unlimited supply of money. All I needed was a little creative thinking. I needed to think beyond the florist shop. Now I'm enjoying fresh bouquets throughout my home.
A bunch of cat tails freshly cut
from the side of the road,
while on a date with my husband.
A few fern fronds picked from my yard.An inexpensive flower bunch from the grocery store,
placed in several jars for more impact.
It just goes to show, that with a little creativity,
you can achieve your dreams!

I love fresh flowers too. It is amazing what we can come up with when we put our minds to it. I like those arrangements.

Everything looks beautiful!

What is that picture sort of thing, on the mantel? The cream colored one? It's gorgeous!

If you have ornamental grass in your yard, those look nice in a vase too or as background filler for flowers...I will have to try the fern thing, that looks so nice!

The cream thing on my mantel is a beautiful, old ceiling tin. I bought it from a consignment store quite a while ago. It used to be a different color until I washed it one day and all of the years of dirt washed off. I've used it to decorate all different areas of my home.

Very fun and creative. Live flowers and plants make a room look so complete. I just tend to kill them all though. Love how yours look.

What you call cat tails, we call bull rushes. Weird name huh?
I love those birdies, I'm seeing birdies all over blogland. I need some too. :)
Does your kitty or kitties leave your flowers alone? One of mine insists on breaking off the flower heads.

Everything looks beautiful! I love having fresh flowers in my home as well but the money isn't always in my budget either. I'll have to pay more attention to what might be in my own backyard that I could use!

All of your natural arrangements are fantastic - and even better - CHEAP!

I'm a huge advocate for planting in your own yard things you can throw into a vase for a pick-me-up. Check out what I cut in one day this spring to take to a friend:

In the summer my hydrangeas bloom at three different times, so I get lots of colorful blooms from them.

In the fall I snag ornamental grasses and beautful leaves and in the winter I've been known to go around my neighborhood at night and snip from the pines, hollies and other evergreens that dot our common landscaping and need a little friendly trim! :)

Joy,
Thanks so much for stopping by and your kind words. My girls have been very lucky to know two of their great grandmothers, and for that we are truly grateful. Thanks again.

Having lived in the DIY wedding world with my darling daughter for the last 18 months (anyone else sewing table runners for mismatched tables the night before a wedding), all I could see was "Wow, would that have been a great idea for wedding table decor".
