Spray Paint Crush

It is a well known fact that I have a deep and abiding love for spray paint. I have noticed over the years that I go through phases where I latch onto a color and obsess over it---much like a tween girl with a crush on the cutest boy in middle-school.
Lately I've been crushing on metallic gold. I am loving that pretty yellow shimmer that reflects the fall light.

Gold is popping up in all of my holiday and home decor.
From gold spiders at Halloween to gold branches on the autumn mantle
I've painted a forlorn turkey and some antlers.

It seems that I can't find enough odds and ends to give a touch of glitz. I'm twitterpated with gold  and I'm certain this crush will continue on through the Christmas and New Year's.
Do you have a spray paint crush?

No Turkey Mantle

I know many people start their Christmas decorating in November, however,
I love celebrating Thanksgiving
I enjoy spending a month concentrating on giving thanks and acknowledging my blessings
Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite holidays! I relish in decorating for turkey day. This year I decided to forgo the traditional turkeys in my fireplace decor, replacing them with mercury glass owls that I picked up on clearance.
I used the same pumpkins and mercury glass candlesticks that were on my mantle for Halloween, changing out the black garland with fall leaves
Then I threw in some touches of gold.
The banner was an easy DIY using burlap, jute,  store bought stencils and spray on gold glitter.

I have much to be thankful for and
I count YOU, my blog friends,
among my many blessings.
Have a blessed week!

Nuts About Acorns

As I decorated for fall and
Thanksgiving this year,

one thing became very evident.
I'm nuts about acorns!
They are in trays,
in bowls,
in vases,
 and jars.

“Our ordinary mind always tries to persuade us that we are nothing but acorns and that our greatest happiness will be to become bigger, fatter, shinier acorns; but that is of interest only to pigs. Our faith gives us knowledge of something better: that we can become oak trees.” ---E.F. Schumache

Savoring The Season

I love the Thanksgiving season.
I am happy to spend the days appreciating
and savoring the joys of life.
Although it has been a most difficult year,
I still have much to be thankful for. Thank you
for your love, support and prayer
for me and my family.

Coffee Table Talk

I've been making some changes to our living room. What can I say, I get bored with the same old look after a while. As much as I loved the coffee table we made from an old door, I couldn't resist buying this authentic factory cart from a cabinet factory that was going out of business. It's currently loaded with pumpkins.
A real pumpkin is resting on a gorgeous thrifted frame
and the pumpkins that I made last year
are grouped inside a wooden box,
also a thrift store find,
that I added a handle to give it the look of an old drawer.
I love to change things around because it makes me look at
old things in a new way.

Happy Pilgrim and Helping a Friend

On my front porch there stands a grinning little fellow. He's a Pilgrim constructed from a large pole. I made him years ago when I was in my tole painting phase. He's a little outdated but how could I get rid of such a happy decoration. I love my Thanksgiving decorations!

My friend Meg
loves her Christmas decorations and is anxious to put them up. However her husband has given her a challenge. She has written and illustrated a beautiful book with an awesome message, which is a feat for anyone but most especially for Meg because she's quadriplegic. Her husband has challenged her to sell a few books before she pulls out her Christmas decor. If you want to buy a meaningful gift for someone special, go listen as Meg reads her book. If you love the message you can purchase the book. It's a gift that will make the recipient happy, as well as my friend Meg. Then everyone will be grinning like my little pole Pilgrim!

Autumnal Scenes

My "official" Thanksgiving decorations
are still packed away.
But this morning I am enjoying the early rays of sunlight
shining upon the few autumnal scenes
I have thrown together in my living room.
I love this time of year!

A Contrast and A Winner

Outside my door is the look of winter. Contrast that from the look of fall inside. Today I will enjoy both looks. And just for fun I might listen to
a little Christmas music.

Congratulations to Crystal!

Savor or Rush

I am one to savor all the months of fall. I know there are many who have already rushed into decorating for winter
and Christmas, but November still means autumn to me.
It's the month to slow down, relax, enjoy,
and take time to contemplate all of my blessings.
How about you?
Do you savor or rush in November?
