Dollar Store Martha

I have always loved the festive look of
simple wreaths hanging from kitchen cabinetry. There is something so "Martha" about it.
I decided that I could still have that Martha look,
even without Martha's pocket book or her staff.
Don't you just love the dollar store!

Love it!
Can I ask you how you made the plate shelves on the side of your cupboard... or are they part of the original cupboard?
Thanks so much

What a nice idea! Who would of thought something so simple would be so dramatic!
Did you paint and antique your own cabinets?
Also, what size wreaths did you use?
Thanks for sharing this great idea!

ANSWERS! ANSWERS! ANSWERS!
Patricia,
Yes, we made the plate rack on the side of the cabinet. We just added a strip of 1x2 the length of the cabinet and then faced it with the same molding that we put on top of the cabinetry.
Janene,
Yes, I painted and antiqued my cabinets. They look sooo much nicer now than the ugly oak brown they were before.
And the wreaths are 8 inch wreaths---measured by the metal hoop. Most of my cabinets are narrow so that size looked proportionate. I think the dollar store carries a size bigger and a size smaller.

Oh I love that in the kitchen! Haha I almost did the exact thing-dollar tree wreaths and the glitter words in a wreath, hanging from ribbon, on each little window in the living room! If I am doing a project similar to yours, I feel like I am finally on the right track!!!

You have the best ideas! I wish we had a dollar store near us. We have the type that says they are dollar stores, but they cost more than that. I hope that made sense!
Your wreaths look very nice hanging on your cabinets!

I love this!!! (And now I wanna go to the dollar store and add yet another holiday item to our house!). Did you attach them by ribbon and if so how is it secured? Are there any problems with opening and closing the cabinets frequently?

I so enjoy your blog. It's the first one I ready every day

Great idea! I may have to borrow the idea a little bit. I don't know why they named it dollar store, though, I've never been able to go there and come out with only one dollar less than I went it LOL. Karen

I found your blog via another blog and from hers another blog and WOW!!! I just went through your entire blog and I am just speechless! What you can do with the thrift store, dollar store and a can of spray paint is just short of miraculous! I literally am in AWE!!! I will definitely be a continual reader and learn from some of your craftiness. Move over Martha because you are it! :-)
