Old and Dear

Every Christmas there are certain decorations that I take out and display first, even before a single tree goes up. I've had them for years and they're very dear to me. None of them cost a lot, but they mean a lot to me.A vintage looking Santa, given to me more than twenty years ago by my mother. I love him. A few years back, he had a little mishap. Thank goodness for super glue.
I love to stand him next to the little family of carolers that I bought for myself many, many years ago when I had just two children.
A buggy filled high with gifts and a happy couple, given to me several years ago by my mother-in-law. Each of these decorations, with their vintage look, remind me of years gone by when Christmas was a lot less chaotic.I always display them together in a prominent place in my home. And even though my decorating tastes have changed over the years, these decorations still bring a smile to my face and warm my heart when I unpack them from their boxes.
Do you have a favorite decoration that you enjoy bringing out each Christmas?

Those are all so cute. I especially like the couple in the buggie.

I have several that are special to me....not necessarily for any reason....just that I have had them for so long. It is always fun unwrapping them and "discovering" them each year. I LOVE your vignette of special treasures!

Your figurines are darling. I love that couple in the buggie. I have one ornament that I did a post on that my daddy gave me the year before he died. Even my husband asks me each year, where is the Greatest Greatest?? He is under a cloche this year.

I love the couple in the buggy.

You have it displayed really nicely. I always worry that mine seem so jumbled up, but you did a really good job. :)

I love your little carolers. My decorations are a collection of decorations over the years. I don't usually buy new every year. Everything looks great. Jackie

I love anything Charles Dickens-y! My MUST put out Christmas thing is a Precious Moments Nativity similar to this one

My mother has the entire set from the 1980s that I will inherit someday, but for now, my little 5 piece set brings back the best memories of decorating for Christmas with my mom.

Those are beautiful and even more so because they all have some history or a story behind them. The best kind of decor. :o)

The figurines are adorable. I have Christmas items that I love to unwrap each year and recall the story behind each one.

Not at this point, but I sure do love taking out my ornaments. My mom gifted me all my childhood ornaments so there are some good memories.

I have always wanted a set of carolers (yours are exactly what I would like), and I never bring myself to purchasing any. I think, "Oh...it doesn't fit my decor", but they're just so classically Christmas. I'm going to keep my eye out for some. :)

What sweet decorations! My favorite are a Santa from when my hubbie was little and my Nutcrackers. My nutcrackers are special because most of them were picked out by my kiddos, not always what I would have picked but picked with love nonetheless!

I love, love, love things in homes that have a story. They are always so much better than anything else, aren't they?
I do have a few things~ one is a Santa that is taller than Caroline! I need to post a photo of them together. So funny!

Love your sweet decorations! Most of my special decorations came from my darling granny. She gifted me her musicians before she passed and I love them dearly!

I love how the framed picture in the background completes the vignette. Very nice.

I have a Christmas village and a set of angels that are my "must-come-outs". They are very beautiful, but they are special because a friend made them just for me. (The angels all look like a member of my family!)
