Antique grain sacks are so popular right now.
I decided to make my own versionusing burlap and paint.
I personalized it to my family.
2 parents+5 kids=No.7
(Name has been covered to protect the innocent)Our last name has Swiss origins,
so the word "family" is spelled the Swiss way.
I used spray adhesive to stick itright on top of the old painting.
How's that for a change of scenery?
It looks much better than it did here.

I LOVE it and it looks 'old'. You so need to do a tutorial on this. I have stamps from scrapbooking, but none that look like that. Awesome idea!!! Looks beautiful on your table.

Oooh and we can see what you did with that old painting. Very nice. YOur blog has really got my creative juices flowing. I liked your harp sheet music on the wall. It made me think of doing that with this old phone table I have. Make my own top for it. Thank you for always giving good ideas.

Wow Joy that looks fabulous. I wonder how you could make the letters appear aged? Do you think you could take some sand paper to it or would that pull on the burlap fibers??

Country Living copied you in the March issue. They papered a wall with pages from an old book. Your sheet music looks WAY better.

Love this idea, Joy! I've been reading your blog for awhile (I'm Lincoln's cousin) and live just a mile or two away from you. My question - where did you get the stencils that you used on the burlap? I LOVE it. I would love to use this as a wedding/birthday/christmas gift for friends and family. Also, I'm always seeing all the treasures you get at the 2nd hand store and am AMAZED. Do you shop at the DI?

Perfect! I have always been able to decorate and put stuff together, but I have never created anything. Thanks for giving me the confidence to think this is possible for me to do as well! I'll let you know if I actually do something, instead of just thinking about it!
