I found this gigantic framed art
at the thrift store. It was love at first sight.
Not with the artwork.
It was the beautiful frame.
I removed the art
and took out my trusty spray paint.
Surprised? It's not black.I used Caramel Latte metallic
to cover the gold.Once dry, I brushed over the frame with
diluted brown paint, then rubbed off the
high spots to give it the appearance of age
and show off the details.
I adore the look of
my giant empty frame
leaning against the wall. And it does a great job
hiding the lamp cord too.

That is awesome! I too came across a framed I loved with art that I didn't! I'm going to do the same thing to it. Can't wait to share it! Thanks for sharing yours! Hugs from Conroe, TX!
Love the color... great find.
I just sold a frame kinda like that and I am totally kicking myself. Wouldn't it be cool hung over a big sheet mirror in a bathroom to add dimention? I am on the hunt again!! Wish me luck!! :)
it looks great.. love it!! how much did you pay for it?
Love it. Now I need to hunt one down.
That is a beautiful frame. Do you have any plans for it?
Just seeing your find makes my heart beat a little faster. Love a bargain and something beautiful for my home!
Love it!
I have a thing for mirrors and this would make a beautiful mirror oryou could paint the picture with chalk paint and hang it in the kitchen. The possibilities are endless.
Joy that's beautiful!! Can I ask how much you paid? I feel like all of the thrift stores around me are high on things like that - so I'd like to compare!

Beautiful! I'm wondering, though, if it is wooden or plastic? I seem to only be able to find plastic ones. However, Kari and Kijsa have worked miracles on those as well! I'll just have to keep looking, I guess! Blessings!
Brillant.
I love that creative look. We just were thrifting and saw a beautiful frame but they wanted $10 for it...knowing what's out there (and it had a chip), we didn't splurge. :)
Love this one!
Wow! That is gorgeous empty like that against the wall! Perfect proportions! Such a great find!
i just bought one very similar at my local salvation army. it was only 4 dollars. it was half price day. i sprayed mine down with chalkboard paint, and when we get our house finished, it will be hanging in our kitchen!!!
yeah!!!
love yours!
Oh, my...you do have the most luscious ideas when you find these things. I would never have thought to leave it empty...a mirror to lean, maybe but then...so would everyone else. This is something that not every one would have.
Just beautiful....
An award for you on my blog!

What a great find. Spray paint can do wonders...
Mmm...caramel latte. What a delicious sounding spray paint.
I bought that same paint and used it on a chandelier, it's a great color! I remember one of your long ago posts talked about using rub-n-buff, and I have looked for it but none of the salespeople I asked had heard of it. Can you tell me where to find it?
YOUR QUITE THE SMARTY PANTS!!!
LOVE IT.
