The Finial Act

As you know by now, I look at the world through spray painted glasses. Almost everything I see, I wonder if it might look better painted a different color. I am constantly amazed at how color can really change the character of an item. One example is this finial, a recent thrift store purchase:You may like it as is, but I like it so much better with a coat of cream paint topped with a bit of stain.I realize that I've only showed quick little spray paint projects all week. That's what gives me a daily thrill! I'm out every day spray painting a little something. Every week my son has to move my "spray paint station" (a stool topped with scrap wood) before he mows the lawn. It's not the prettiest lawn ornament but it works for me!

Nice. Not only did I get to see your redo, but I also learned what those things are called. Finial...I'm commiting it to memory right now.

I like the finial better, too. What sort of stain did you use? Did you wipe it right off after applying it?

Love how you added the stain, it gives it an extra punch! And your spray paint station made me laugh, I am constantly dragging something out onto the lawn to spraypaint, makes me think I need a more permanent spray paint station!

Great to find you, I'm now a follower!

Oh! Now I'm jealous! You have a "spray painting station". I have various colors of grass (yellow, purple and white this week) in the wilder area of my side garden. I've gotta get me one of your high-tech stations!

NANCY-
Yes, I wipe off the stain right after I apply, leaving it in the crevices and any other spot that will give it character.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment! I'm so glad to find you, I spied your blog on spray painted plastic keys - how clever! I've been wanting some old keys but your idea is a whole lot quicker and easier to do than waiting to find old ones *smiles* Love the finial make over, looks beautiful!

Definitely better cream!

I usually end up using the top of our garbage cans, or here lately, a piece of wood out by the burn pile.

The stain was an inspired touch!

I get such a kick out of spray paint too. My only problem is that I am down to one color and need to replenish my stash. My hubby wanted to know why everything is turning silver this week. LOL.
