Comfort Zone

I am a creature of comfort.
I prefer to stay in my little cocoon
where I can be safe and warm and comfortable.
There is only one problem with that attitude.
I do not grow.
And even though growing can be painful,
it is also a necessary part of life.

Today I find myself in an uncomfortable but necessary position.
I have determined that it is time for me to
stretch my wings and fly
.
As scary as it is for me to do,
I fear that it will be more scary not to.

Recently I quietly celebrated my blog's second anniversary.
Like most events in my life the celebration included
a time of reflection.
It also caused me to visualize what I want in the future.

Blogging has taken me to places I never anticipated.
It is time for me to go further.
Time to leave my comfort zone.
To push myself.
To become more.
I know that if I can become more
I can have a greater impact on others.

That's the scary part!
I would much rather be a hermit
than put myself out in the world.
But the time has come.

Please be kind.

I have decided that it is time for me to
ask for sponsors.
Although I hesitate to charge people money
I know that it is a means to help others grow.

Okay, (deep breath!)
that is not where my stretching ends.

For several years now I have done design consultations
for friends and friends of friends.
It has become a small business.
A business that I really enjoy.
It is time for me and my business to grow.
If you live in my area
(Northern Utah, USA)
I am available for hire.

Please contact me at
joysofhome@gmail.com
if you are interested in advertising
or a design consultation.

Wow!
Getting out of your comfort zone
is both scary and exhilarating!

What will you do today to get out of your comfort zone?

I am blessed to teach music lessons. It is such a JOY... It is so fun to be paid to do something you love so much. My hubs is a Seminary teacher for the LDS church, he also feels the same way "Wow, I get paid to teach the Gospel!". So here's to your new business and enjoy getting paid for your l♥ve!

Go for it! Thanks for the challenge to get out of our comfort zone. Hopefully everyone will support your efforts. Just don't lose being the real "YOU" in the process...and I'm sure you won't. I applaud your success!

I for one think that as part of your "growing" you should POST A PICTURE!!!! Everytime I thrift shop in the Salt Lake Valley. I see a hip lady w/ a cart full of wonderful I think "That could be Joy and I wouldn't even know it!!"

change is good...sometimes hard but good! Congrats on your success...you deserve it! And I agree with Heather...we could be "next door neighbors" and not even know it! I love the analogy of the butterflies btw! Perfect for spring...and you!

Okay, let that breath out now, Joy. That wasn't so bad, was it? : ) I think you will do great and we all have to grow. Sometimes that means widening that circle a little bit {even if we are afraid to}.

I have spent the best part of 25 years getting out of my comfort zone! I have lived in 26 different places (and 7 countries) and have that dreaded fear every time I move. But if AI didn't make the effort - I wouldn't grow either. So spread your wings and soar to amazing heights - the views pretty cool up there!

What do you mean by design consultation? I am just not sure what they entails. Is it like what I see on HGTV; changing and designing an entire room? Or more of just design pieces? I live near BYU and would love some design help.
