A Fish Tale

I bought this box at the thrift store last week. It was probably someone's wood shop project. I know, you're probably questioning my taste right about now, and asking yourself, "What was she thinking?!?!" I'm sure that's what people at the thrift store thought. They could only see that lovely fish decal on a funky little box. The lady who checked me out thought that it looked like a small coffin for fish. But all I could see was the craftsmanship! It's made up of all kinds of beautiful mouldings. It has style. Or at least, it has the potential for style.
I sanded off the fishy and gave it a few coats of spray paint, in what seems to be my favorite color now a days. Then I topped it with a sassy little knob. . .
And now it's a stlyish little box that anyone would be proud to put their dead fish in. ;)

I love being able to see the beauty in something so ugly! You made it beautiful! Don't you ever wonder what the sales people think when you purchase these types of things? ;-0

I would definitely be proud to store dead fish in that, that's the prettiet fishy coffin ever! It really is beautiful, it would make a nice jewelry box. Can I come shopping at the DI with you, I just can't see the potential in things like you can :)

Very stylish - for sure!

May I ask where you found such a grand knob, and what do you really plan to store in it?

We store all our dead fish in the freezer, but to each his/her own, when it comes to dead fish, I guess!

For those of you who are curious, the cute red knob came from Hobby Lobby. And I really don't plan on putting any fish in the box, but it would make a lovely place to stash chocolate!?!
And just to stir your curiosity further. . .the box has a secret compartment under the lid---I already checked it for a treasure (or fish bones) and found nothing :(

That is just the cutest little box and you can store all your jewels in the secret compartment. I have no jewels so it would be dead fish for me.

That is really pretty, I would have never seen that fish box and invisioned what you did...but maybe now I can! Thanks:)

Thanks so much for the advice on my kitchen! It's funny because I was googling 'green kitchens' when your comment came in :) I am leaning towards a green, black and cream color scheme...so your ideas are right on with the way I am going with it.

Thanks again, you are soo very talented!!! :)
