This One's For You

Two posts in one day? Yep, cuz my blogging friend Shirlee wants some inspiration from a little project that she noticed in one of my previous posts.I bought this wooden clock face at the thrift store. It was someone's unfinished project. I brought it home, finished the paint job and distressed it, then added some big chunky ball feet. I use it to as an anchor for my vignettes.
I'm always willing to help out a friend. Good luck my friend!

too cute! I have never thought to do that. I have a clock that needs a little tlc and would be perfect for that.
Modge podge-I discovered a trick. Good amount of modge podge before the paper-then put some on top and find something flat to smooth out the bubbles. I used a the back of a wooden stamp-it worked great. They have special tools that are specifically for modge podging-but I don't remember what they are called. Then after you get all the bubbles out-let it dry under something that is heavy. I use my computer tower all the time. It doesn't stick and pushes down the paper quite well. I must admit, not all of my modge podge is great. i just don't look to close. I discovered yesterday that glass is the way to go. It's such an easy service to modge podge. I will post the table that I did with glass inserts. It turned out so cute!!! Too bad it was for a client. Hope those tips help. One more thing-med paper-not too thick or too thin. thin will rip and thick is hard to manipulate.

Thanks Joy! :)
So, you're not only witty and talented, you're a psychic too? Although maybe it was an easy guess when I mentioned it was round?
I really was going to keep it "as is" because the vintage look appeals to me and the goldish paint sort of works with my window coverings. However, I really want to keep it out all year and the flowers during the long winter months????
If I do go ahead and paint it, I'm thinking antique white, black numbers, then giving it a light sanding and antique glaze. What about the fluted edges? Paint them the same as the white or paint black? Numbers or roman numerals? I just noticed that yours has numbers.
Gosh, I need to stop second guessing myself. As much as I like the tray as is. I don't have any problem painting it since I only paid two bucks for it.
You're a doll for guiding me through this.

Joy, I'm going to come up with a "thinking aloud" post either later tonight or tomorrow with my ideas for the space as a whole. Since we gutted the rooms, our LR and DR are one long open space so I'm trying to keep the colours cohesive.
Oh, and the tray will most likely live it's remaining days on the dining table. We never use it except when company comes.
Have a good night!

Joy you are so cool. I didn't think there was a nother person on the planet who loved dictionaries! I am not proud of # 6 either. don't know how to fix it though. The clock totally reminds me of my friend Tausha.
