There was one more thrift store treasure that I didn't show you yesterday.
It's this wooden salad bowl.What?!?!
You don't think it's a treasure?
I love it.
In fact, I now have a collection of wooden bowls. They're not your typical bowls. They each have interesting details. And, of course, I like to paint them black.Do you think they're fabulous now???How about when they're turned over?
I'm sure that right about now you're wishing you hadn't passed by that old wooden salad bowl last time you were at the thrift store.
Don't worry.
It will probably still be there, because no one else knows
what a fabulous find it really is.Speaking of fabulous...go check out Darlene and Kara. They're both giving away some fabulous prizes on their blogs.(I used the word "fabulous" four times in this post!)

Great ideas I love wooden bowls too!
What a wonderful idea!
:::whimpering::: Please go shopping with me. I just can't "see" the potential in things like you can evidently. And when I do find something that I can imagine being fab, I inevitably talk myself out of it and then spend the next few months kicking myself whenever I think of that missed opportunity.
Great idea!! I never would've thought of that on this one! Awesome!
I love it! You are so creative and full of great ideas!
Come visit my blog today...I am featuring a new room in my house today (and it has some projects in it that were inspired by you!
Thanks!
Wow - I feel like I should applaud! You're a magician my dear.
great idea! you always have the pretty cloches:)
JOY!!!!
You outside of the box thinker you. Clever lady that's you! I am wanting I need some advice grouping several big decorative balls. I have 6 of them. I know that I can use the clear glass apothecary jar with lid, but they all won't fit. I don't want to separate the collection. Right now all I can come up with is a wrought iron basket. Thoughts, oh creative one???
.mac :-)
WEllllllllll bowl me over! Sorry...had to use it. I LOVE it....I will be looking for some of those puppies now. I am sure I passed them up before. Thanks for inspiration Joy. c herry

You never cease to amaze me! I love it :)
A truly FABULOUS idea! I'm bowled over! (I didn't even really notice the title until I went to comment. Then it cracked me up!)
That is fantastic. Such a creative mind you have.
Thanks for sharing. I'll never look at a wooden bowl the same again.
OK, first of all the title is worth a million bucks. You are so clever. And I would have never ever thought of that. I can't belive how great they look painted black and flipped over. I may have to reference this on my blog, if you don't mind that is...
Your genius continues to amaze me!! :o)
Love them!
I just wanted to say hello and let you know how much I enjoy reading all of your wonderful ideas. Now I know exactly what I'm going to do with the cloches I picked up at my favorite thrift store :)
I do the same, but sometimes rub a color wash on it after the black.... I also turn them over to put things on them or add height! Great minds..........
You always just blow me away with your ideas!!! sweet~
Well, those look just awesome!!! That is a good idea. Buying a cloche WITH a stand gets expensive. They look wonderful.
I've been following your blog for a while and have never posted, but feel compelled to post tonight! That is such an amazing idea that I would never have thought of. So cute too! Thank you for all your cute ideas!
LOVE IT!
So cute AND you just gave me a great idea! My next kitchen decorating project will be themed - either Mexican, French Country or Tuscan (I know, big difference but it will be one of those). I love to collect bowls, plates and platters for display but I don't have enough of any one style. I didn't want to start getting to many because you really can't paint glassware well - other than some little tweaks here and there they pretty much are what they are.
BUT, If I start collecting wooden pieces now and just box them up, I can paint them when the time comes - spray paint the base coat then texture or sponge or stencil a design depending on the style. Cheap and could be done in many styles.
I am actually going thrifting today I think, woo hoo!!
Hi joy! I love you blog so much that:
I have an award for you over at my blog! www.kaseyhelder.blogspot.com
You just have to copy the award and then do what I did!
Yay for you!
Joys of Home is incredible. Thank you for always sharing your unbelievable ideas!
What a FABULOUS idea!! (I use that word too much too:)
But truly, that is so creative.
Wow - you really help to open eyes that wouldn't have otherwise seen the treasure in something. Now if only I can remember it when I see it!
Tracy
You must have the best thrift stores ever near you. I went hunting today to try some of your ideas and struck out :(
Keep it up, love the blog!
Hi! I was just wondering where you find the glass covers? Are those more thrift store finds or do you get them elsewhere? thnx!
Thank you for the great idea, painting wooden bowls. I am not going to pass them up next time. You have a interesting blog I will be visiting often. Have a nice week. Sandi
