Pardon Me

I'm taking an extra day off to catch up. I hope you'll pardon me for posting an "oldy but goody" from a year ago.

What is it about learning something new?
It's both terrifying and exhilarating!
A few years ago I decided to take a stained glass class. I'd wanted to do it for about twenty years and the timing was finally right. We had tackled the job of remodeling our kitchen on our own, and I wanted one cabinet door to have a stained glass insert. The class was challenging but fun! Someday, when the time is right again, I plan to take another class.
The entire class had to make a small sun catcher as our first project. Much to the teacher's dismay I chose this door insert to be my second project. Luckily, it turned out beautiful, (thanks to a little help from the teacher).
Every time I walk into my kitchen and see my stained glass
it makes me happy. It reminds me that
it's important to
continue to learn,
and that you really can teach an old dog new tricks!
What new thing have you learned lately?

I'm glad you did repost this one. I love trying new things, too. I make sure to take a couple of classes each year. My all time favorites that I have ever done were stained glass (foil method) and sewing. I have continued to do both for years now.

I took the sewing class as a lark with friends. At the time I was anything but domestic - it was just another way to do girls night out. I LOVED it! Since then I have made a point to try things that may not seem to fit my character. You never know where they will take you.

My neighbor was doing a quite elaborate design for her door. I watched her work a bit and it was so interesting. Yours turned out beautifully - especially for your second project!

I was just thinking about this very thing this morning. I'm not sure what kind of class(es) I want to take, but I have lots of ideas.

That door insert is beautiful!

You sound like me in picking a complicated project - I took an upholstery class and brought in a chair I wanted to have upholstered but couldn't afford it... unless I did the work! LOL It turned out well and it's still in our living room, about 15 years later.
