Change Is Good

Last year I bought this darling birdhouse---at a real store, not the thrift store.
Yes, I occasionally do that.

It looked wonderful on my mantle decorated like this:When the holidays came, I put it into my "inventory room" (hubby's term for our messy storage room).
I recently pulled it out of storage and once again placed it on my mantle. It's the same birdhouse, I didn't alter it a bit, but I did alter how I decorated around it.
Do you change the way you decorate or does everything stay the same? If you're a "stay the same" decorator, why not pick one little area of your home to change up this weekend. I'm not telling you to go out and buy a bunch of things. No, not at all. Everything on my mantle was pulled from what I already had.
Come on, try it!
Take things from one room and put them in another. Pull together a whole new vignette using your same old stuff in a new way.
It's fun! It's challenging! It's rewarding!
Change is good
for you and your home!

I like the new look.

I am always changing things up. Come to think of it, I do it every time I dust. Maybe that is why things are always in motion:)

Change is good! I am constantly moving things, adding things, taking things away... Great way to keep things looking fresh!!

"CHABGE IS GOOD"! I like to move things around, especially for the seasons like you have shown. It's amazing how different things look with new ribbon, garland etc.

Sorry, I guess I should learn how to spell "Change"

I love to change things up, too. It makes me feel like I have something new when it's really just a new way with something old.

The only thing my husband objects to is moving the furniture around. He kept tripping over ottomans and coffee tables when he awoke at 5:00am! He doesn't ask for much, so I oblige.

I'm usually a stay-the-same kind of decorator, because it takes me a long time to get tired of something once I've arranged it (and I don't have a lot of inventory!). But then after a while I'll suddenly change things.

I like both ways of using your pretty birdhouse. It's adorable!

Haaahhaaaa..I had to laugh when you asked if we change things up..I change things ALL the time. Now, it may be just rearrange something on one tabletop...but I adore change. It can make your room feel new again. When we were much younger, it was furniture rearranging...Bill said he would NEVER try to walk thru our rooms at night without first turning on a light.! :>)
I love the second photo best...I like lots of interesting stuff!!

I'm usually one who rarely changes things - and that's why I'm loving my new office project!! I'm decorating in a new style and taking things from other parts of the house as well!!

I definitely fall into the "change is good" camp--I love to make changes to my home.

Thanks for stopping by my blog to say hello. This is my first visit to your blog--great photos of your home! Love your creativity.

I have added a link to your fabulous suitcase stack in my "Alternative Home Decor Database" on my blog. Hope that's ok!

Thanks for you comment on my dresser re-do!

I have a church birdhouse on my mantel as well! But I have to admit...your mantel looks alot better than mine. I'm ready for a change but can't decide what exactly I want to do. Mantels can be so tricky!
